About Alan

Alan Pearse is a Calgary-based lawyer whose practice is focused exclusively on impaired driving litigation, including over-.08 and refusal cases. He has practised since 2000 and has defended thousands of clients, personally running all of his own trials. He is the author of A Guide to Breathalyzer Certificates in Canada, published by Canada Law Book, and publishes an impaired driving newsletter. He was criminal trial counsel in R v Sahaluk, in which the Alberta Court of Appeal struck down the province's rule linking licence suspension to the outcome of a criminal case. He is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Alberta and regularly lectures on DUI law to lawyers and law students.
