About Akinwumi

Akinwumi Reju, known as Akin, is a Senior Partner and one of three founding partners of Topmarke Attorneys, where he leads the Business Law and Real Estate team. His practice touches corporate, commercial, investment, franchise, technology, real estate, and business immigration law, built over more than 31 years as a transactional lawyer. Early in his career in Nigeria he spent three years in litigation before moving in-house with financial services companies, eventually rising to Deputy Director of Corporate and Legal Services at the IGI Group. He later led the legal negotiating team on the World Bank-supervised privatization of two government-owned insurance companies in Uganda and Rwanda, and helped establish Global Trust Bank of Uganda as its legal adviser. He has also led negotiations on joint ventures between North American oil and gas companies and Nigerian EPC firms. Akin holds a law degree from the University of Benin and is a chartered secretary, and belongs to the Nigerian Bar Association and the Law Society of Upper Canada.
