Peterkin has 22 years of experience as a civil litigation lawyer, with a practice spanning insurance coverage and tort litigation involving personal injury, property damage, and other complex liability matters, and has appeared in applications, trials, and appeals in Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Yukon, and the Northwest Territories. Before starting an independent practice, Peterkin was a partner in a Western Canadian law firm, practising as a litigator in its insurance department. Peterkin has also taught business law and ethics at the University of Calgary's Haskayne School of Business and insurance law at the University of Alberta Law School, and writes on insurance coverage matters for the Canadian Journal of Insurance Law. Peterkin holds an LL.B. (Honours) from the University of Edinburgh and an LL.M. in International Commercial Law from the University of Nottingham, and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario (2004) and the Law Society of Alberta (2010).
