About Hammond Flesias

Hammond Flesias is a Vaughan, Ontario law firm built around two partners, Richard Hammond and Alex Flesias, who practice commercial and complex litigation. The firm has developed particular strength in construction law and building contract disputes, and it also takes on labour and employment, environmental, real estate, partnership and shareholder, and estate litigation matters. On its own site the firm describes taking on what it calls messy litigation, cases that can seem intractable, and working to find practicable solutions. Much of its work comes through referrals from other lawyers and institutions rather than direct advertising.

Richard Hammond holds an honours BA from the University of Western Ontario's Huron College (1994) and an LLB from the University of Saskatchewan (1998), and was called to the bar in Alberta in 1999 and in Ontario in 2001. Hammond's construction litigation practice draws on earlier experience working in the construction industry, and covers suppliers, subcontractors, contractors, owners, architects, and engineers. Alex Flesias holds a BA in political science and history from the University of Toronto, a master's in political science from York University, and an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School, and has been a partner at the firm since 2007 after articling at a regional Mississauga firm and working at a construction litigation firm. The office also includes a student-at-law and two law clerks.
