About Zacks Law

Zacks Law is a small litigation firm in Toronto with two lawyers, Dan Zacks and Akkila Thirukesan. The firm concentrates on business disputes, appeals, limitations law, and insurance coverage disputes, and works with clients ranging from small businesses to large corporations. Before founding the firm, Dan Zacks acted for domestic and London market insurers, providing coverage opinions and litigating coverage disputes. Dan has argued appeals before administrative tribunals, the Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, and the Federal Court of Appeal, and has brought leave applications to the Supreme Court of Canada.

Dan Zacks co-authored The Law of Limitations, a LexisNexis textbook now in its fourth edition, and Halsbury's Laws of Canada, Limitation of Actions (2017 Reissue), also published by LexisNexis, and writes Under the Limit, a blog on Canadian limitations jurisprudence. Dan is recognized in Best Lawyers Canada for corporate and commercial litigation. Akkila Thirukesan practices professional liability, commercial, and administrative and constitutional litigation, with experience in government, an international law firm, and the Los Angeles Public Defender's Office. The firm often works on a block, fixed, or hybrid fee basis instead of billing strictly by the hour, and can take some policyholder coverage disputes on a contingency basis.
