About YYZlaw

YYZlaw is a small Toronto corporate and regulatory law practice built entirely around the aviation and travel industries. Bill Clark founded the firm as Clark & Company in 1999; it later took the name YYZlaw. The practice acts for business aircraft owners and operators, aircraft lessors and lessees, scheduled and charter airlines flying into Canada, domestic air carriers, and Canadian aerospace companies, and it's often brought in by other law firms for aviation specific transactional or regulatory matters.

The firm's roots go back further than 1999. Before starting Clark & Company, Bill Clark practiced at Nobbs, Woods & Clark, continuing an aviation law practice with origins in the mid-1950s, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1971. Clark went on to spend more than a decade on the Canadian Business Aviation Association's board, received the association's Honorary Lifetime Membership award in 2015, and has served as designated legal counsel for the Canadian Association of Tour Operators since it was founded. The wider team brings its own aviation credentials to the file work, including a commercial pilot's license, an LL.M. in Air & Space Law from McGill University, and, on the sports side, a place on Canada's national fencing team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
