About Yallen Associates

Yallen Associates is a small litigation and immigration law firm in midtown Toronto, founded in 1990 by Arthur Yallen. Yallen was called to the Ontario bar in 1989 after a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School (1987) and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from McGill University (1984, with distinction), and practiced insurance litigation at another Toronto firm before opening the practice. Over more than three decades the work has covered personal injury, insurance, real estate, corporate and commercial disputes, copyright, and sports and entertainment matters, plus immigration and refugee work before Canada's immigration tribunals and the Federal Court. Yallen has also acted as counsel to professional athletes, coaches, and general managers in the National Hockey League.

A second lawyer, James Lawson, joined the firm after articling at a small Toronto litigation practice. Lawson was called to the Ontario bar in 2008 following a law degree from Dalhousie Law School in Halifax and has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Federal Court, and the Immigration and Refugee Board. The firm's immigration work spans permanent residency and citizenship applications, family and employment visas, and refugee claims and appeals. Its estates work doesn't include drafting wills; it's limited to estate related litigation, such as removing an estate trustee or resolving a dispute over how a will is being administered.
