About Wozniak Law P.C.

Wozniak Law P.C. is a small Toronto litigation firm run by a single principal, Ryan Wozniak, from an office on Monarch Park Avenue off Danforth Avenue in the city's east end. The firm concentrates on employment law litigation, commercial and shareholder disputes, estate litigation, and civil appeals, and represents clients before all levels of court in Canada as well as administrative and arbitral tribunals.

Wozniak has practiced civil litigation for more than 19 years, appearing as lead counsel before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, the British Columbia Supreme Court, the Tax Court of Canada, the Supreme Court of Canada, and federal labour arbitrators. Immediately before opening the firm, Wozniak was Senior Vice President of Operations and Legal for a global HR consultancy based in the United Kingdom.

The firm describes its approach as a scalpel rather than a hammer: precise arguments and carefully timed pressure at a reasonable cost. Wozniak writes and comments on litigation and employment law regularly, with articles in The Advocates' Journal, Just magazine, and The Lawyer's Daily, and was a contributor to the LexisNexis Practice Advisor from 2014 to 2018 on summary judgment motions in wrongful dismissal claims. Media appearances include TVO's The Agenda, CBC News, and CTV News.

The neighbourhood

The firm's office sits on Monarch Park Avenue, a side street off Danforth Avenue near where it meets Coxwell Avenue in Toronto's east end. That stretch of the Danforth grew up as a streetcar suburb, built up from the 1910s through the 1930s along the old Danforth streetcar line, on land that had earlier been shaped by clay extraction feeding the city's brick manufacturing trade. It's a low rise, largely residential pocket rather than a downtown office tower, which fits a firm built around one lawyer's litigation practice rather than a large corporate office.
