About True Law

True Law is a small litigation firm in downtown Toronto, operating as Catherine Willson Professional Corp. out of Suite 2000 at 393 University Avenue. The firm's practice covers civil litigation, construction law, employment law and equine law, a mix built around Catherine Willson's career. Willson has practised litigation for over 30 years, founding Willson Lewis LLP, a litigation firm in Toronto's Liberty Village, before joining Goldman Sloan Nash & Haber LLP (GSNH LLP), a full service Toronto firm, in 2014.

Equine law sets True Law apart from most Toronto litigation practices. Willson wrote "Equine Law: Guide and Template Agreements for Anyone Working with Horses," published by Self-Counsel Press, contributes articles to HorseSport Magazine, and serves as Honorary Governor and Risk Management Committee Chair of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. On the construction side, Willson is a director of the Toronto Construction Association, chairs its environmental committee, and received the association's Distinguished Volunteer Award in 2021. The rest of the team is small: associate Ryan Scott, who studied at Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Sussex before volunteering with Pro Bono Ontario, and counsel Samuel Zakhour, who practises construction law and civil litigation alongside Willson and handles real estate matters through a separate professional corporation.
