About SkyLaw

SkyLaw is a corporate and securities law firm in midtown Toronto, founded by Kevin West in 2010. West clerked for Justice Ian Binnie at the Supreme Court of Canada, then spent five years at Sullivan and Cromwell LLP in New York and Sydney before becoming a partner at Davies Ward Phillips and Vineberg LLP in Toronto. SkyLaw started as a solo practice built around one cross border transaction and grew from there, with an early emphasis on cloud computing tools in a law practice, an approach that was unusual for a firm at the time.

The practice centres on mergers and acquisitions, securities law compliance, corporate governance, cross border transactions, and director services for public and private companies. A corporate services group handles incorporations, limited partnership formations, and entity management, including annual compliance and registered office services, and reaches clients outside Ontario through a network of local agents. SkyLaw doesn't try to be a full service firm: its lawyers, who have worked at larger firms in Toronto, New York, London, and Sydney, focus only on this corporate and securities work. The firm marked its 15th anniversary and reached its 1,000th client milestone in the 2025 to 2026 period.
