About Peter Cozzi

Peter Cozzi is a solo litigation practice in Toronto, working from an office at Yonge and Eglinton in Midtown Toronto. Cozzi began practising law in 1974 and has represented clients in family law matters since then, appearing in civil courts throughout South Central Ontario for more than 40 years. The practice today covers motor vehicle accident and personal injury claims, family law including divorce and other matrimonial matters, commercial litigation, and insurance disputes, including accident benefits and negligence claims and disability insurance claims.

The firm follows a stated practice protocol of making an early risk and cost assessment on non-contingency files, meant to help clients keep control of legal costs as a matter moves forward. Cozzi also writes on legal developments: a 2015 piece argued for a consumer insurance bureau in Ontario, and a later post examined whether an Iranian mahr, a marriage gift payable in Bahar gold coins, is enforceable in an Ontario family law case, a question that touches on the federal Currency Act as well as cross-cultural marriage contracts.
