About Mandin Law

Mandin Law is a small Toronto litigation firm founded in 2018 by Stephany Mandin, working out of an office on Bay Street in the city's financial district. The firm's practice centers on employment law, human rights and Charter claims, and sexual assault, harassment, and discrimination matters. It also acts in construction lien claims, expropriation and municipal disputes, commercial and contractual disagreements, and estate litigation, and offers arbitration and mediation as an alternative to going to court. A smaller, distinctive part of the practice is entertainment law, advising musicians and other artists on disputes with labels and management over royalties, master recordings, and intellectual property.

Mandin trained at Osgoode Hall Law School, winning the school's first year negotiation competition and working with Parkdale Community Legal Services and Pro Bono Students Canada while still a student. After being called to the bar, Mandin practiced at another litigation firm before becoming a partner at Goldman Hine, a small commercial litigation firm, then founded Mandin Law in 2018. Mandin also holds a master's degree in socio-legal studies with a focus on Charter jurisprudence and economic discrimination, and completed the Osgoode Certificate in Entertainment Law, training that lines up with the firm's work for musicians and other artists.

The neighbourhood

Mandin Law's office is on the 16th floor of Simpson Tower at 401 Bay Street, on the corner of Bay and Queen in downtown Toronto's financial district. The 33 storey tower went up in 1968 as the headquarters of the Simpsons department store company and is now integrated with the Eaton Centre across Queen Street. Being on Bay Street itself puts the firm inside the corridor most identified with Canada's legal and financial industry, a fitting address for a litigation practice built around employment, human rights, and commercial disputes.
