About INQ Law
INQ Law is a Toronto firm that practises health, data, and business law from an office on Avenue Road. It formed in 2021 through the merger of two related practices: DDO Health Law, which opened in 2009 and spent twelve years building a health law and risk management practice for public, private, and not for profit clients, and INQ Data Law, launched in 2019 to focus on privacy, data governance, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. Carole Piovesan, the firm's managing partner, is named as INQ Law's founder.
The firm groups its work into three areas: health (clinical practice, risk management, privacy, and health regulatory matters), data (global privacy, cyber preparedness, data governance, and artificial intelligence), and business (board governance, corporate commercial work, charities and not for profit law, and intellectual property). It also runs INQ Consulting, a separate advisory arm set up to pair legal advice with policy, data ethics, and technology work. Its lawyers work with hospitals, universities, and research organizations as well as start ups and larger companies, and several joined the firm after government regulatory roles, including postings with the information and privacy commissions of Ontario, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories.

The property is registered as a heritage building that has shifted from residential to commercial use, which is what it holds today: a law office working out of a Victorian era house rather than a modern tower.
