Harasymowycz Law is a small, father-daughter general practice based in Toronto's Bloor West Village. George M. Harasymowycz was called to the Ontario bar in 1981 after earning an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School, and has run a general legal practice in the neighbourhood since then. George was later selected for listing in the eighth edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of trusts and estates, and practices in both English and Ukrainian. The firm handles corporate and commercial matters, family law, real estate, and wills, estates and trusts, including estate litigation, powers of attorney and guardianship applications.
Nadia M. Harasymowycz joined the practice after being called to the Ontario bar in 2009 and admitted to practice in the State of New York in 2010, following four years at a downtown Toronto firm that practiced exclusively in estate litigation. Nadia's practice now centres on estate litigation, estate planning and estate administration, with appearances before the Small Claims Court, the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal. Nadia also helped edit part of the licensing exam study materials used for admission to what was then the Law Society of Upper Canada. Both lawyers belong to the Ukrainian Canadian Bar Association, and George sits on the parish council of Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, a nod to the firm's ties to Toronto's Ukrainian community.
By appointmentHarasymowycz Law's office sits on the south side of Bloor Street West in the heart of Bloor West Village, between the Jane and Runnymede stations on the TTC's Bloor-Danforth subway line, with street parking and several Green P lots nearby for clients driving in. The strip is more than a run of storefronts: Bloor West Village was where Ontario's first business improvement association took root after a 1970 change to the Municipal Act, an experiment in merchants organizing themselves that later spread to dozens of BIAs across Toronto. That small-business, civic character fits a firm whose corporate work runs to incorporations and shareholder agreements for the kind of independent businesses that still line the avenue.
The neighbourhood is also home to one of Toronto's more visible Ukrainian communities, marked every September by the neighbourhood's Ukrainian Festival of music, food and crafts. Harasymowycz Law is part of that fabric in a direct way: George Harasymowycz practices in both English and Ukrainian, sits on the parish council at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, and both lawyers belong to the Ukrainian Canadian Bar Association.
