About Grigoras Law

Clients rate this firm highly on Google.

Grigoras Law is a small civil litigation and business law firm in Toronto, founded in 2008 by Denis Grigoras. The firm stays deliberately small: the lawyer who takes the first call also drafts the pleadings, argues the motions, and sits across the table at closing, rather than handing the file to associates along the way. Denis Grigoras has been licensed in Ontario since 2007 and in Nevada since 2008. Rachelle Wabischewich, called to the Ontario bar in 2014, is counsel focused on commercial disputes and urgent relief applications.

The practice runs in two directions at once: drafting shareholders' agreements, commercial contracts, and corporate structures, then litigating them in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and its Commercial List when relationships break down. Work spans commercial and civil litigation, shareholder and oppression disputes, defamation and reputation management, and business law, along with a cross-border advisory practice under Nevada law covering entity formation, asset protection, and judgment enforcement. A growing share of the practice also serves clients in Switzerland and the European Union navigating the Canada-EU trade agreement.

The firm's main office is on the 48th floor of One King West in Toronto's financial district. It also keeps an administrative office in London, Ontario, and a mailing address in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rather than open its own Nevada office, it associates with licensed Nevada counsel for any in-person matters there.

The neighbourhood

The Toronto office sits on the 48th floor of One King West, at 1 King Street West in the city's financial district. The tower was built onto the historic Dominion Bank Building, a 1914 Beaux-Arts skyscraper designed by Darling and Pearson, when a 51-storey residential tower was added to the site and completed in 2006. The original banking hall from 1914 survives at street level.

The firm also keeps an administrative office in London, Ontario, and a registered mailing address in Las Vegas, Nevada, that supports its cross-border Nevada law work without maintaining a physical presence there.

Frequently asked questions

Does Grigoras Law handle disputes between business partners or shareholders?
Yes. Shareholder and oppression disputes are one of the firm's core litigation areas, including deadlock disputes over shareholders' agreements and oppression claims under the Ontario Business Corporations Act.
Can Grigoras Law help if I've been defamed online or in the media?
Yes. The firm handles defamation and reputation management matters, including anti-SLAPP motions and pre-suit corrections, and has represented clients in reported defamation decisions.
Does the firm take on urgent, time-sensitive matters like injunctions?
Yes. Grigoras Law accepts urgent relief work, including injunctions, certificates of pending litigation, Mareva and Anton Piller orders, and emergency motions, subject to availability. Premium rates can apply to expedited work.
I run a business in Switzerland or the EU and want to expand into Canada. Can Grigoras Law help?
Yes. The firm advises European clients on setting up and structuring a Canadian presence, including under the Canada-EU trade agreement (CETA), along with related Nevada entity and asset-protection work.
Will the same lawyer handle my file from start to finish?
Yes. Grigoras Law is kept intentionally small so the lawyer who takes the first call also handles the pleadings, motions, and any trial or closing, rather than passing the file to associates.
What should I bring to an initial consultation?
Bring your questions and the key facts of the situation rather than a full file of documents. The firm offers a paid, 30 minute consultation focused on general legal information; detailed document review happens after you retain the firm.
