Giving Tree Family Law is a small family law firm on Bloor Street East in Toronto. The firm says it was formed during the COVID-19 pandemic, when marriage and cohabitation breakdowns and shared custody disputes were on the rise and many families found themselves turned away from other firms or asked to pay costs they couldn't afford. It set out to offer what it describes as a balance of quality, competitive rates, and availability. The practice covers the core range of family law work: divorce and separation, decision-making responsibility and parenting time, child and spousal support, property division, and adoption, along with domestic violence and same-sex family matters.

Giving Tree also takes on work that's less common for a firm its size, including surrogacy and fertility agreements, parentage declarations, and grandparents' rights matters, along with family mediation, collaborative divorce, and general civil litigation. It keeps overhead low and charges a standard rate of $350 per hour, with a complimentary initial consultation and secure virtual meetings available to clients anywhere in Ontario, not just in Toronto. The firm also accepts Legal Aid Ontario certificates, and its lawyers of counsel bring backgrounds in both public service advocacy and courtroom experience across Ontario's family court system.
