Durno and Shea Professional Corporation was established in 1974 by founding partners Robert Durno and Michael Shea. The firm started out as a full service practice, covering matters from criminal law to real estate law, then narrowed its focus over the years to concentrate on residential real estate and estate planning. That shift grew out of the founders' stated aim to build a practice that gave clients individual attention and an approach tailored to each transaction, rather than a one size fits all service.
Today the firm operates from an office on Ellesmere Road in Toronto and handles residential purchases, sales, refinances, assignments, and new construction closings, along with wills, powers of attorney, estate administration, and notary and commissioner services. The current team includes a partner with a law degree from Bond University in Queensland, Australia, and an associate lawyer with a law degree from the University of Ottawa who ran an independent practice before joining the firm. A small group of real estate and estate law clerks, plus an accounting staff member, rounds out the office.
