About Dickinson Wright

Dickinson Wright traces its roots to 1878, when two young lawyers opened a small practice in Detroit serving the banking and railroad industries. The firm's name changed several times as leadership evolved over the decades, and it officially became Dickinson Wright PLLC in 1998. It has since grown into a full service business law firm with more than 550 lawyers working across roughly 40 practice areas, spread across a network of offices in the United States and Canada. Its Michigan history runs deep: members of the firm helped draft Michigan's state constitutions in 1908 and 1963 and were involved in organizing a national bank during the 1933 banking crisis.

The Toronto presence began in 2011, when Dickinson Wright's Ontario affiliate combined with Aylesworth LLP, a Toronto firm that had served clients since 1861.
