About Davis Barristers

Davis Barristers is a small litigation firm in midtown Toronto, run by Alan J Davis, who founded the practice on Bay Street in 1982, shortly after graduating from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1980 and being called to the Ontario bar. That Bay Street practice has grown over more than four decades into Davis Barristers, which now operates from an office on Eglinton Avenue West. The firm is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Toronto Lawyers Association.

The practice is limited to litigation, with a focus on employment law, estate disputes, and commercial litigation, and it also takes on disability insurance claims, insurance coverage disputes, family law, and environmental contamination claims. Davis Barristers offers a free initial consultation and can act on an hourly basis or, in some matters, a contingency fee tied to the result achieved, rather than only billing by the hour. Outside the practice, Davis also serves as a boxing judge, including at world title bouts, and holds memberships with the Ontario Athletics Commission, the International Boxing Federation, and Athletics Canada.
