Charney Lawyers PC is a small litigation firm with its main office in the Yorkville area of Toronto. Theodore P. Charney (Ted Charney) founded the firm in 2013 after a long career in litigation; Charney was called to the Ontario bar in 1987 and later to the British Columbia bar in 2021. The firm concentrates on class actions, along with business litigation, employment law, personal injury and product liability claims, privacy law, and real estate and condominium disputes. It also keeps a second office in Vancouver, which supports a national class action practice.

Class actions are the firm's main focus. Its lawyers have acted as lead or co-lead counsel in over 50 class proceedings across Canada, in areas including competition law, consumer rights, employment, pharmaceuticals, privacy breaches, and product defects, with cases involving companies such as Facebook, Amazon, Ford, TikTok, and Whirlpool. Charney's lawyers are counsel of record in more than 300 reported decisions. Class action fees are contingent on the outcome: the firm covers the costs of pursuing a case up front, and clients don't pay unless it succeeds. The associate team includes lawyers who moved to Toronto after practising in New York and Vancouver, and one who trained at a class actions clinic during law school.
