Free consultationBurrison Law is a Toronto personal injury firm led by Alison Burrison, who represents injured children, injured adults, and bereaved families across Ontario and British Columbia. Burrison began a legal career in 2003 acting for insurance companies and defendants in negligence claims, then moved in 2006 to represent only injured people and their families. Before opening the firm, Burrison was a partner at a personal injury litigation firm in Ontario. The practice draws on that insurance side experience to prepare cases for settlement or trial, and Burrison holds a Master of Laws in health and medical malpractice from Dalhousie University, earned on a full scholarship from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
The firm concentrates on catastrophic injury claims, including brain, spinal cord, and orthopaedic injuries, along with motor vehicle and other transportation collisions, injuries on school, camp, or care facility premises, sports and recreation injuries, assault and bullying claims, and disability or critical illness benefit disputes. It also handles medical negligence claims, including birth injuries. Burrison is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Law Society of British Columbia and has appeared in the Supreme Court of British Columbia and its Court of Appeal. The firm offers a free initial consultation and works on contingency, charging no more than 25 percent of a settlement plus disbursements and applicable taxes.
Free consultationBurrison Law's office sits at 53 Jarvis Street, near the south end of the street where it meets Front and King. That intersection is one of the oldest parts of Toronto, anchored by St. Lawrence Market, which has stood on the same corner since 1803, and by the heritage buildings that still line the block. It's a working stretch of the old town rather than a glass tower district, a short walk from the courts and law offices clustered downtown.
The area's mix of market stalls, historic brick storefronts, and legal offices reflects its long run as the commercial heart of old York before the city's growth pushed north and west.
