About Axess Law

One of the highest-rated law firms in Toronto, going by its Google reviews.

Axess Law is a technology driven real estate law firm founded in 2012 by Lena Koke and Mark Morris, who opened the firm's first office in downtown Toronto to offer real estate, wills, and notary services. In 2013 the firm partnered with Walmart to open an office inside a Walmart store in Scarborough, which Canadian Lawyer magazine described as the first legal practice in North America to operate out of a big box retailer. Koke and Morris were later named co-recipients on Canadian Lawyer's list of the Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers for 2014.

The firm has since grown into a national practice serving Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia, with a separate affiliate for Quebec, and offices in Toronto, Scarborough, Ottawa, Vancouver, and Calgary. In 2020 it became one of the first law firms in Ontario to offer fully virtual real estate closings, and by its own count it has now served more than 150,000 clients. Axess Law says it handles files in house with its own lawyers, law clerks, and paralegals rather than outsourcing them. Beyond real estate purchases, sales, and refinances, its other services include wills and powers of attorney, notary and commissioner of oaths work, probate applications, and small business incorporations.

The neighbourhood

Axess Law's roots are in Scarborough as much as downtown Toronto. After starting out with a conventional office downtown, the firm's move into a retail space inside the Walmart at Scarborough Town Centre in 2013 became its defining move, a way of putting a law office where people already ran errands rather than asking them to seek one out. That Scarborough office, at 300 Borough Drive, is still open today.

The firm has since added a Toronto office on Alvin Avenue and locations in Ottawa, Vancouver, and Calgary, reflecting a practice that now runs more on video signings and courier packages than on foot traffic to any one storefront.
