Aris Gyamfi opened the practice in spring 2023, wanting to pair the skills built in high-stakes litigation with a natural passion for helping both people and animals. That career started at a downtown Toronto litigation firm, where Aris Gyamfi eventually became a principal, and it has included appearances at every level of Ontario court, in the Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal, and before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. Aris Gyamfi is an Osgoode Hall Law School graduate and a member of the Ontario bar.
Early on, Aris Gyamfi was on the class counsel team for a class made up largely of international students in Ramdath v. George Brown College, a class action that went all the way through a common issues trial and raised novel questions about aggregate damages and the Consumer Protection Act. Later work took in several court-approved national class settlements, one of them in a workplace gender-based harassment class action, and representing Toronto venture capitalists in a Commercial List trial over breach of fiduciary duty and conspiracy.
The animal law side rests on real time in the rescue world, working with vets, rescue partners and people at a registered animal charity, plus experience on precedent-setting cases. Its animal law services cover Toronto and the GTA, and clients elsewhere in Ontario can work with the firm remotely.
