The firm helps owners decide which kind of business organization fits, and once a company is incorporated it prepares the bylaws, registers the Articles and walks owners through how shareholders are organized. Long-term clients count on it for the government filings that keep a corporation in good standing, and it also acts on business sales, mergers and acquisitions, with advice in plain English on daily operations, growth and dealings with suppliers and customers.

Employment law for employers only

Andriessen & Associates represents employers and no one else. It shapes HR policies around legislation and case law, advises on harassment and violence rules and Human Rights obligations, and defends wrongful dismissal suits and Human Rights Tribunal applications. An employee handbook is a flat $2,250, and a first employment agreement is $1,000, with $250 for each sub-agreement. (Fees as of October 2026.)

Collections and Small Claims Court

The firm collects debts of any size, starting with a demand letter to nudge a slow payer when that's all it takes. Small Claims Court cases are handled up to Ontario's $50,000 limit on a flat fee set in line with what a successful judgment will include, and larger debts are pursued at the firm's regular hourly rates. Commercial and equipment leasing

Andriessen & Associates drafts and enforces commercial leases for landlords and for tenants, negotiates lease terms and reviews offers to lease, often at a flat rate; for residential tenancies it acts only for landlords. Its lease suits often involve removing a tenant, going after one who left before the term ended, dealing with goods left behind, or tracking down a tenant who reopened under a new name. Equipment lessors in fields like office equipment and motor vehicles get over 25 years of lease drafting and litigation experience, whether they need equipment repossessed or a deficiency claim pursued too.

Business litigation

The firm litigates in every area of business law, including enforcing judgments from outside Ontario within the province. Inga B. Andriessen's own practice is about 70% litigation, and Ariel Dorfman works in business litigation.

Wills, trusts and probate

Wills and estate planning for most people are done at a flat rate, while complex estate planning questions are billed hourly. The team also sets up trusts, handles probate, and helps with estate disputes and any litigation that follows.
