About Advocai LLP

Advocai LLP is a personal injury and elder law firm based in Toronto's Baby Point Gates area, just north of Bloor West Village. John-Paul Zeni and Christine Morano founded the firm after both left larger firms to start a smaller practice built around their own approach to client care. Zeni had practiced personal injury, medical malpractice, and class action law at a Bay Street firm after graduating from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, and before that co-founded and sold a startup in the automotive and government regulatory space. Morano's path to the firm started with an administrative position at a downtown Toronto law firm, then moved through law clerk work before qualifying as a lawyer with degrees from the University of Toronto and McMaster University. Morano then worked as a staff lawyer at the Advocacy Centre for the Elderly, representing hospital patients and long term care residents, before co-founding Advocai.

The firm handles motor vehicle, pedestrian, and cycling accident claims, medical malpractice, long term care and retirement home negligence, disability and life insurance denials, and elder abuse and guardianship matters, on a contingency fee basis so clients pay nothing without a recovery. Associate Amanda Bianchi, who has a background in neuroscience and cell biology, joined as a legal assistant in 2022, articled in 2024, and was called to the bar in 2025.
