Bussey Ainsworth is a small law firm in downtown Peterborough that has served clients across the Kawarthas and wider Ontario since 1988, when Gary Ainsworth opened the practice on Sheridan Street. The firm's current office is on Rink Street, but it has stayed in the same downtown neighbourhood for almost four decades. Ainsworth practiced law for more than 40 years before handing the firm to Barry W. Bussey in May 2023. The firm handles real estate, including cottage, farm, and waterfront property across the Kawarthas, Haliburton, and Muskoka, along with wills and estates, powers of attorney, business law, farm and business succession planning, civil litigation, notarial services, and charity and non-profit law, with a particular focus on faith-based organizations.

Bussey holds a PhD from Leiden University along with degrees from Burman, Western, Memorial, York, and Waterloo, began practicing law in St. John's, Newfoundland in 1993, and was called to the Ontario bar in 1996. Before joining Bussey Ainsworth, Bussey spent a decade as Director of Legal Affairs at the Canadian Centre for Christian Charities, advising congregations and denominations across the country, and appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada five times as intervener counsel. Bussey also holds the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, received in 2012. The firm has served more than 5,200 clients since it opened its doors in 1988.
