About MKC Law Office

MKC Law Office is a general practice law firm in downtown Peterborough, Ontario, at 254 Brock Street. Its roots go back to 1974, and the practice continues the work of several lawyers who built it over the decades: Robert Claire McGillen, P. Douglas Galvin, Peter Millard, and Julie Kirkpatrick, whose wills and power of attorney practice the firm carries forward. Today it is a small team focused on real estate, family law, wills and estates, business law, and civil litigation for clients in Peterborough and the surrounding cottage country.

Managing partner Ian Keay, called to the Ontario bar in 2003, handles real estate, corporate, and estate matters and has volunteered with organizations including the Kawartha Food Share board and the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce. Partner Oliver Cooper joined the firm, then known as McGillen Keay Cooper, in 2011 after moving from Alberta, bringing litigation experience from both provinces, and focuses on civil litigation and family law, including collaborative law settlements. Articling student Jackson Wiltshire grew up in the Bancroft area, studied at Trent University and Swansea University in Wales, and worked as a youth pastor in Peterborough before joining the firm to article.
