About Third Street Law

Third Street Law is a family law firm in downtown Cobourg, Ontario, practising exclusively in family law. It brings representation, mediation, and arbitration together under one roof, along with med-arb, parenting coordination, domestic contracts, and children's law work. The firm serves Northumberland County, Peterborough, Durham Region, and Hastings and Prince Edward County, meeting many clients virtually by Zoom, Teams, or phone across the rest of Ontario. Three partners lead the practice: Cory Deyarmond, Jane Howlett, and Stefanie Rudd.

Deyarmond was called to the New Brunswick bar in 1997 and the Ontario bar in 2003, after several years in regulatory compliance with a national insurance and investment company, and now focuses mainly on family arbitration and other out of court resolution. Howlett holds degrees in social work and law, is a Certified Specialist in both Family Mediation and Parenting Coordination, and sits on the panel for the Office of the Children's Lawyer. Rudd, who grew up in Cobourg and was called to the Ontario bar in 2014, brings a business background to the financial side of property division and support cases.

The firm also keeps a dedicated children's law practice, providing independent representation for children, Voice of the Child reports, and child inclusive mediation, and its lawyers act as counsel to child welfare agencies and First Nations communities across Ontario.
