About Compcore Law Group

Compcore Law Group Professional Corporation is a London, Ontario law firm that practices exclusively in Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) law, and only on the employer side. Steve Hellsten and Cynthia Hellsten founded the firm in 2015, with 2016 as its first full year in operation. Steve Hellsten holds a B.A. (Hons), J.D., and M.P.A. and is one of nine lawyers in Ontario certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a Specialist in Workplace Safety and Insurance Law. Cynthia Hellsten holds a B.A. and J.D. Together they bring more than 25 years of combined WSIB industry experience to the firm's work for Ontario employers.

Before starting Compcore, Steve Hellsten and Cynthia Hellsten worked at Nova Scotia's Workers' Compensation Board, where Cynthia Hellsten served in the Claims Department and later as a Hearing Officer adjudicating worker and employer appeals. Both were called to the Bar in Nova Scotia after articling in Halifax. In 2005 they moved to London, Ontario, to join an employer-side WSIB consulting company, with Steve Hellsten representing business clients at WSIB and WSIAT hearings and Cynthia Hellsten managing WSIB claims in-house for a motor vehicle manufacturer. Compcore now runs as a virtual practice built on cloud-based systems rather than a traditional office, serving employers across Ontario while its lawyers stay based in London.
