About Hodgson Sinnett

Hodgson Sinnett is a criminal defence firm in downtown Kingston, Ontario. Matt Hodgson and David Sinnett co-founded the firm in 2000, when Kingston was their only choice for where to open a practice, and the two have now worked together for more than 25 years. The firm stays small by design, a team of lawyers and a law clerk who take on cases ranging from minor mischief to murder, along with bail hearings, sentencing, trials, and regulatory or provincial offences. Hodgson Sinnett represents adults, youth, and corporations, and serves clients in Kingston, Napanee, and the surrounding area.

Hodgson grew up in Newfoundland and returned to the Kingston area after living in several Ontario cities, earning a history degree at the University of Western Ontario and a law degree at Queen's University. Hodgson served as a Navigation Officer in the Canadian Naval Reserve before practicing for several years in Kitchener-Waterloo. Sinnett grew up in Nova Scotia, lived in Quebec, Manitoba, and British Columbia, and studied psychology, law, and criminology at Carleton University before earning a law degree at Queen's. Sinnett practiced in Welland and Kitchener-Waterloo before settling in Kingston. Both have served as President of the Kingston Criminal Defence Lawyers Association, and Hodgson is a former Kingston area director for the Criminal Lawyers' Association of Ontario.
