About J. Amelia Law Professional Corporation

J. Thomas McGregor Professional Corporation is a small general practice law firm at 233 Creek Street in Wallaceburg, part of the municipality of Chatham-Kent. Tom McGregor built the practice there over nearly four decades, working in real estate, wills and estates, corporate law, and uncontested family law, backed by a team of legal clerks who specialize in the same areas. An archived 2025 version of the firm's website said McGregor had been in practice for 38 years, and pointed to McGregor's community roles: chair of the board of directors of North Kent Mutual Insurance, and a former municipal councillor.

That changed on July 1, 2026, when leadership passed to lawyer Joe Amelia and the practice was rebranded as J. Amelia Law Professional Corporation, timed to coincide with McGregor's 70th birthday. McGregor still works with the firm in a reduced capacity on real estate, wills, and estates, while Amelia now leads corporate and commercial files too. The office hasn't moved. It's still on Creek Street, and the firm serves Wallaceburg, Chatham, and the rest of Chatham-Kent, plus Sarnia, Windsor, and London, in person or by video. It also publishes a blog of plain-language guides for Chatham-Kent readers on topics like powers of attorney, business structures, and real estate closings.
