About Wendy

Wendy Riel is a barrister and solicitor and a registered trademark agent who works with clients ranging from multinational and national businesses to small companies and entrepreneurs on their intellectual property needs. She has extensive experience preparing search opinions, filing and prosecuting trademark applications, and advising on licensing, enforcement, opposition matters, and post-registration proceedings, including summary cancellation and litigation matters. She also advises on trademark acquisition, branding, due diligence, marking and labelling requirements, counterfeit and licensing issues, copyright, and domain names. Riel is a member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada and currently sits on the Trademark Office Practices Committee of the International Trademark Association. Before entering private practice, she was a Senior Trademarks Examiner at the Canadian Trademarks Office.
