About Vera

Vera Syrma joined League and Williams as an associate in October 2024, focusing on maritime matters and litigation. She graduated from the University of Law in Bristol, England, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in European politics from the University of Leeds. She completed her Certificate of Qualification in Law through the Federation of Law Societies of Canada and articled with an international law firm's Vancouver office, gaining experience in maritime and admiralty law in India, including ship arrests and court-ordered sales. Before practising law, she worked as a paralegal at a Vancouver Island firm specializing in insurance defence. She's fluent in Russian and is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Canadian Bar Association's Maritime Law Section.
