About Tony
Tony Kavanagh has practised as a lawyer in Winnipeg for 22 years, primarily in criminal defence, and previously worked for many years as a senior Crown prosecutor. He also handles administrative and civil matters, particularly in professional discipline, and serves as an independent adjudicator. He teaches law students at the Canadian Centre for Professional and Legal Education and at Robson Hall Law School (University of Manitoba). He offers a free consultation and accepts certain Legal Aid cases, and if he cannot represent a client directly, he supervises the file with one of his associates. He is a former president of the Manitoba Bar Association (2009-2010) and a current Life Council Member, a former vice president of the Criminal Defence Lawyers Association of Manitoba, and a former president of the Community Legal Education Association. He also serves as Deputy Chief Commissioner of the Residential Tenancies Commission.
