About Thomas

Thomas Scholten is a Calgary-based criminal defence lawyer whose practice covers impaired driving, drug trafficking and possession, sexual offences, property offences, violent and domestic offences, and youth crimes, along with SafeRoads Alberta licence appeals. Before becoming a lawyer, he apprenticed with defence lawyer Richard Muenz, and the two continue to work together on complex cases. Scholten volunteered with Student Legal Assistance while at law school and remains a mentor and volunteer lawyer there. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary Faculty of Law and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Mount Royal University, is a member of the Calgary Criminal Defence Lawyers' Association, is in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta, and is on the Legal Aid Alberta roster. He has appeared in the Alberta Court of Justice, Youth Criminal Court, the Court of King's Bench, SafeRoads adjudication reviews, traffic court, and rural and regional courts.
