About Sylvie

Sylvie Schirm is a founding partner who has practised exclusively in family law since 1988, including pleading before the Superior Court, the Court of Appeal and, with partner Marie-Elaine Tremblay, the Supreme Court of Canada in a case protecting the confidentiality of family mediation. She has represented victims of domestic violence, acted for children caught in custody disputes, and co-authored books on child representation in family matters, common-law partnerships, witness preparation, and shared custody. She received the Avocate émérite distinction from the Barreau du Québec in 2016, was named a commissioner of the Commission des services juridiques in 2025, and previously chaired the Association des avocates et avocats en droit de la famille.
