About Sylvia

Sylvia A. LaFontaine is the founder and Managing Partner of Hamilton Legal Group, holding both her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Windsor. She began her career as a sole practitioner in rural southwestern Ontario focused on real estate, then served as an investigator with the Ministry of the Attorney General and as Director of Healing and Wellness for the Metis Nation of Ontario. She now practises estate law, estate litigation, and administrative law, appearing before the Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court, Small Claims Court, the Landlord and Tenant Board, the Human Rights Tribunal, and professional disciplinary bodies. During law school she established the second Aboriginal Legal Aid Clinic in Ontario, later incorporated into the Legal Aid-funded L.A.W Windsor program. She is active with the Estates Section of the Hamilton Law Association, the Ontario Bar Association, Rotary Club International, and the Canadian Federation of University Women.
