About Stephen

Stephen J. Bitzer is the founder of Bitzer Criminal Law, a Calgary criminal defence practice, with over 25 years of experience. He defends clients on all charges under the Criminal Code of Canada, the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and the Youth Criminal Justice Act, with particular experience in sexual assault, drug trafficking, large-scale fraud, impaired driving and Safe Roads Alberta reviews and appeals, and dangerous and long-term offender applications. He has also worked on cases involving wiretap warrants and search and seizure warrants for dwellings, vehicles, and computers. Bitzer holds a Bachelor of Laws from Queen's University, a Master of Arts in Criminology from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Psychology from Simon Fraser University. He is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Calgary Criminal Defence Lawyers Association.
