About Stephen

Stephen Halperin currently holds counsel status at Goodmans, having spent over three decades as a partner there and more than twenty years on the firm's Executive Committee. He previously co-chaired the firm's corporate securities practice group. His work has long centered on transactional corporate and securities law, with particular focus on cross-border and domestic corporate finance work, along with mergers, acquisitions, and governance matters involving activist shareholders. Between late 2007 and early 2009, he represented a committee of investors dealing with the collapse of Canada's third-party asset-backed commercial paper market. That effort led to a $32 billion restructuring of the market, described as the largest court-supervised restructuring ever carried out in Canada.
