About Soma
Soma Ray-Ellis is a partner at Gardiner Roberts and chairs the firm's Employment and Labour Law Group. She represents companies and executives across employment law matters including wrongful and unjust dismissal, human rights, harassment, workforce restructuring, employment agreements, occupational health and safety, workers' compensation, and privacy issues, and she conducts harassment and discrimination investigations for municipalities and corporations. Soma served as lead counsel to Air India at the Air India Inquiry and writes a biweekly employment law column for the Toronto Star. She authored two Halsbury's Laws of Canada volumes, one covering Discrimination and Human Rights and the other covering Employment Law, plus the Employment Equity Manual, and helped draft the original Rules of Practice for the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal. She holds an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School and a degree from the University of Toronto, and was called to the Ontario bar in 1992.
