About Selim

Selim James Levy founded Olive Legal in 2013 after training as a mediator and conciliator and then attending law school. He was introduced to humanitarian and human rights work early in life through his multicultural, multilingual upbringing, which continues to shape his practice. He worked in Geneva, Switzerland from 2008 to 2009 with an international organization focused on eradicating child labour. Selim practises across all areas of family law, with a particular focus on court appearances involving private international law, including foreign property issues and the removal of children to or from Canada. He is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Barreau du Québec, and belongs to the County of Carleton Law Association, the Ontario Family Law Limited Scope Services Project, l'Association des juristes d'expression française de l'Ontario, the Child Protection Defence Association of Ottawa, and The Advocates' Society. He is part of Legal Aid Ontario's roster panels for family law, child protection, criminal law, Ontario Review Board matters, and Consent and Capacity Board matters, and volunteers with OCISO and the Teen Legal Helpline.
