About René

René Vallerand has been a partner at Donati Maisonneuve since joining the firm in 2002. A graduate of the Université de Montréal and a member of the Barreau du Québec since 1982, he practises mainly personal insurance law, civil and commercial litigation, securities, and the distribution of financial products and services, as well as disciplinary and regulatory law. He represents insurers, businesses and individuals before all civil courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and before disciplinary committees and the Tribunal administratif des marchés financiers, and serves as Quebec attorney-in-fact for several national insurers. He is a frequent speaker on personal insurance and the distribution of financial products and services, a past chair of the Canadian Bar Association's Quebec division civil litigation and insurance section, and has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada for insurance law since 2008.
