About Philip
Philip Underwood practises corporate and commercial litigation, handling shareholder disputes, oppression claims, insolvency proceedings, regulatory matters, and commercial arbitrations for clients in the retail, real estate, energy, insurance, financial services, and telecommunications sectors. He has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court and Court of Appeal, the Manitoba Court of King's Bench, the Federal Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada. Before moving to Ontario, he practised at the New York office of an international law firm, where he worked on large regulatory investigations, antitrust matters, bankruptcy proceedings, and international commercial arbitrations. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2017, having been admitted to the New York Bar in 2015, and holds a J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School and a B.A. with honours from the University of Chicago, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
