About Philip
Philip Horgan was called to the bar in 1988 and has practiced law for over three decades. He holds a B.A. in economics and international relations from the University of Toronto and graduated from Queen's University Faculty of Law in 1986. His practice covers commercial and contractual disputes in construction, employment, estates, real estate, and family law, and he has appeared at all levels of trial courts and administrative tribunals, including the Supreme Court of Canada, arguing more than 20 Supreme Court cases. Many of these involve constitutional matters relating to education and religious freedom for non-profit and charitable clients, including St. Mary Ethiopian Orthodox v. Aga et al. In 2019 he was elected a bencher of the Law Society of Ontario, where he has served on several committees and sits as an adjudicator of the Law Society Tribunal. He is also active in several community and professional organizations, including the Catholic Civil Rights League and the Thomas More Lawyers' Guild of Toronto.
