About Neil
Neil Mather was raised in Edmonton and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Alberta before earning his law degree from the London School of Economics in 2001. He then worked in New York City in international private banking before returning to Canada, where he spent nearly two years as an advisor to the Minister of National Revenue in Ottawa. Neil practiced tax litigation and tax dispute resolution with a prominent Alberta law firm before founding Mather Tax Law in 2011. He has completed both parts of the In-Depth Tax Course offered by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and has litigated matters before the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court, and the Federal Court of Appeal. Neil is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association's Taxation Section (Northern Alberta), and the Canadian Tax Foundation.
