About Michel

Michel Fontaine was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta and a law degree from the University of Calgary Faculty of Law, and was called to the Alberta Bar in 1991. He has practised almost exclusively in criminal defence for more than 30 years, representing clients on impaired driving, drug offences, violent offences, and youth crimes in the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of King's Bench of Alberta, as well as in the Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. He is an active member of the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association in Edmonton and belongs to the Law Society of Alberta and the Canadian Bar Association.
