About Michel

Barakatt was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 1990 after studying at Université Laval and the École du Barreau du Québec, where Barakatt received the Lieutenant-Governor's Medal for academic excellence. Barakatt later served as Honorary Consul of Senegal, appointed in 2012, and was Chief of Litigation and Deputy at another West African country's consulate from 2009 to 2012. Barakatt also clerked at the Quebec Court of Appeal for the Honourable Justice Louis Le Bel, later a justice of the Supreme Court of Canada. Barakatt holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a trademark agent licence issued by the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, and practices family and child law, labour relations, estates and health law, and general civil and commercial litigation. Barakatt has served on numerous boards and charitable organizations since 2001, including the Forum des entrepreneurs du Québec and several Quebec City-area health and social foundations.
