About Michael

Michael Rappaport is a sole-practitioner family law lawyer and civil litigator based in Ottawa, serving clients across Ottawa, Brockville, Cornwall, Kingston and Pembroke since 2008. He handles divorce, custody and support matters, general civil litigation including wrongful dismissal and estate disputes, and wills and estates work such as drafting wills, powers of attorney and administering estates. He also offers an online questionnaire tool for drafting estate planning documents and provides notarial services including affidavits and statutory declarations. Before practising law he worked in journalism, communications and government relations, and has interviewed lawyers across Canada as a legal writer. He holds an LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario, a B.A. (Hons.) in political science and English literature from Carleton University, and a master's degree in journalism, also from Carleton. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Bar Association and the Carleton County Lawyers Association, and has volunteered with Pro Bono Law Ontario and JusticeNet.
