About Michael

Michael R. Shapray is a criminal defence lawyer who has been called to the bar in British Columbia and Ontario. Michael is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Criminal Law Section of the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association, and the Vancouver Trial Lawyers Association. Michael's practice focuses almost exclusively on defending criminal and quasi-criminal charges at all levels of court in British Columbia, with appearances before all levels of court in Ontario and in cases that reached the Supreme Court of Canada. In 2001, Michael was retained by the Supreme Court of British Columbia as Special Counsel for the Air India trial, the longest and most complex criminal trial in Canadian history. Michael has also occasionally been retained to conduct prosecutions for the Crown.
