About Melanie
Melanie Smith has practiced law since 2003. Before joining Lakhani Campea LLP, she spent more than 15 years as in-house counsel for several Canadian mining companies, advising on a wide range of legal matters. She now provides strategic advice on employment agreements, workplace policies, wrongful dismissal, human rights, and privacy issues, and her work includes advising HR departments, conducting workplace investigations, and training clients on regulatory compliance. She earned a B.S. in linguistics from the University of Victoria in 1996 and her J.D. from the University of British Columbia in 2002, and belongs to the Law Society of Ontario as well as having previously been a member of the law societies of British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.
